3 Days in Arizona

Trying to escape the cold weather during the holiday season? Why not sunny and warm Arizona!

Day 1:

We arrived later in the evening into Phoenix. The Airbnb we were staying at in Scottsdale was about 20 min so we decided to just take an Uber there. Once we had arrived and settled in, we decided to head out to Old Towns Scottsdale for dinner. We immediately started craving some Mexican Food and it did not disappoint! After dinner, we headed to walk around the mall (which was already closed unfortunately) but was nice to see some left over Christmas lights!

The Mission Old Town

The service, food and atmosphere of this place was amazing! We ordered streak strip tacos and of course margaritas! Also-highly recommend the table side guacamole! It was quite the experience of having our server make the guac at our table!

Day 2:

We began with a later start of the day than we initially wanted to. We picked up a rental car around 10 AM in Scottsdale to head out to Sedona! We rented our car from Avis (we found they had the best deal around). Be prepared for a lengthy drive-it took about 2.5 hours but it is completely worth it!! Before we actually made it into the Sedona area, we stopped by a grocery store (Safeway) to pick up some sandwiches and chips for the hike.

Hiking in Sedona: Devil's Bridge Trail

We had been undecided on which hike to take but we went with Devils Bridge Trail! A lot of the locals had recommended this one and they were right! There are a couple different routes you can take but I would recommend the whole trip to the bridge-approximately 4 miles. Great views through out and you do not have to be an intense hiker for this! The trail is moderate and fairly flat.

Mesa Grill Sedona

Several friends had recommended watching sunset from the Airport area. We rushed to make it to the top of the hill and found that a lot of people had the same idea and it was extremely crowded-however if you keep driving to the end there is a restaurant at the top where we enjoyed the sunset just as much!! We sat at their patio area and enjoyed some drinks and apps while enjoying some planes take off!

Day 3:

Today was a fun filled day-but didn’t have too much planned going into the day. But of course lots of fun and drinks were going to be involved. We gave our athletic shot a try at Top Golf and headed out to enjoy the night life in Scottsdale! He headed out to the Old Scottsdale area and hit up a couple bars. The whole area was extremely lively and ready to have fun dancing. I only mentioned one of the bars (HiFi) but check out the District, Bottle Blonde and Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row that are all walking distance to another!

Topgolf

This was our first time experiencing Top Golf and it was fantastic! When we arrived, it was pretty busy (atleast an hour wait)-but not a problem there are a few bars inside to pass the time! I would highly recommend making a reservation online ahead of time. Also, check ahead for days and times as prices do vary (weekend vs weekday and afternoons vs nighttime). We were lucky enough to start playing in the later afternoon and were able to get both the day and night time experience! We had a little bit of everything on the menu- chicken and waffle sliders, pulled pork sliders, soft pretzels, & everything was very unique and good! Overall drinks and food were reasonably priced.

Hi Fi Kitchen & Cocktails

We were here on a great weekend as Ohio State and Penn State bowl game was going on! Lots of good music and dancing! Everyone was dressed pretty casual.

Tips and Tricks:

I would highly recommend getting a car for at least 2 days. This was extremely helpful for grocery shopping (we had a fantastic kitchen at home and made a few meals there) as well as driving to farther places such as Sedona). If you are able to-I really wish we would have stayed longer in the Sedona area (perhaps staying a night there)! It was truly beautiful and there was so much to see (hikes, restaurants). However, if staying in the scottsdale area- uber and lyft were really easy to get and cheap to get around areas.
