Island Adventure

Phu Quoc, Vietnam Travel Itinerary & Guide

1 Week in Phu Quoc, Vietnam

This itinerary is for a luxurious island adventure to an up and coming destination known as Phu Quoc Island. It’s a diamond in the rough with plenty of sun, sea and pearl white beaches.

Day 1:

We took a direct flight from London Gatwick to Phu Quoc Island, the flight time is 14 hours. Once we arrived at the airport, we were welcomed by dancing dragons and music. The transfer to our resort was 40 minutes. We stayed at the stunning resort named Vinpearl Phu Quoc Resort. On arrival, we were taken to a lovely breakfast. We had a spacious room overlooking the beautiful blue sea. The rest of the day was spent on the secluded beach dotted with palm trees and a beach bar serving refreshing cocktails. This beach bar is the perfect spot to take in the mesmerizing sunset which sets the sky alight.

Day 2:

The resort has a huge pool so we spent the day relaxing poolside with cocktails and snacks. The weather was about 30 degrees so the umbrellas next to the lounges are a must. There are plenty available and the beach bar serves drinks directly to your sun lounges. By night, we took a free shuttle from our hotel to the vibrant night market. The shuttle drops you right in the middle of this bustling market.  We took some money as there are loads of restaurants serving fresh seafood and the rolled ice cream they make in front of you is amazing. You can also buy souvenirs here at very good prices. We stumbled upon a really nice bar too which served food and cocktails.

Day 3:

We decided to enjoy the spa facilities on the resort as it came highly recommended. This is a short walk from the lobby but you can also take the cute tuk tuks from reception to the spa. The spa is surrounded by beautiful greenery and the massages are done in the huts. You can also enjoy the sauna, steam room and hot tubs. The robes and slippers are provided.

Day 4:

We booked an excursion with the resort and were picked up at 8am. We went to a traditional fishing village and were shown how they catch all the fish. It was nice to see their way of life and meet the locals. This was followed by a visit to a pearl farm. They showed us the oysters that were caught and then carved them out to reveal the hidden pearl inside. This is truly a unique experience and you have the opportunity to buy some pearls if you wish to do so. The next stop is the Coconut prison. This was a humbling experience as you are told the history of the prison and they have recreated the conditions in which the prisoners lived. The final visit was the pepper farm, you see how they grow the pepper corns and they give you a tasting.

Day 5:

We had an opportunity to visit a local temple. They advise that you cover your shoulders and legs.

When you walk to the top of the stairs, the views are amazing overlooking the sea and surrounding buildings. There are a few rooms you can go into and the guide will talk you through each room.

Day 6:

You can also visit another beach, one of the most popular ones on the island called Bai Sao. It has pure white sand and clear sea. There is a swing hung from a tree on the beach where you can take amazing photos. We also went on the jet skis here which was a lot of fun.

Once back at the resort, we visited the vinpearl safari. You take a tuktuk from the reception and it takes 5 mins to get there. The safari was the best one I have been too. We fed the giraffes and took selfies with the elephants. You can get very close to the animals and take great photos.

There is also the theme park and in the evening they do a water fountain show to lights and music.

Day 7:

The trip comes to a close. We were up early for our transfer to the airport. We had a lovely trip overall in a beautiful resort and explored outside the resort too.
