Costa Rica Travel Itinerary & Guide
7 Days in Costa Rica
Visit of the town of Rotorua (or “the city that smells the rotten egg”), including its geothermal parks and its Maori buildings. And of course, a Maori restaurant to try the “Hangi”. Finally, sleep on the shore of a beautiful lake.
Day 1
Travel to Costa Rica and arrive in the evening. We flew into Liberia. Check into your hotel or resort.
Day 2
Relax by the pool after your travel day (hopefully you have a swim up bar as well).
Day 3
Buena Vista Canopy Tour
Can’t get much more exciting than a hike through the jungle to zip lines. Once you’ve finished zip lining you’ll ride horses to a waterfall, then hike to saunas, a mud bath, and hot spring. From there, you’ll take a tractor ride down the mountain, grab lunch, and then zip through the jungle on a thrilling waterslide. Day 4:
Beach day and jet skis (sleep off your hangover)
You can easily rent jet skis from your hotel/resort or at most of the beaches.
Day 5
Nicaragua Tour or alternative
We did this tour and I actually wouldn’t really recommend it. It’s extremely rushed to try and cross the border then see everything in one day. A lot of the areas aren’t the safest (someone tried to grab a camera right out of my hands). From looking on other travel websites people have enjoyed hikes or white water rafting.
Day 6
Fishing
Hire a fishing boat (your resort or hotel will help you book this) and go out along the coast, pop open a few beers, and catch your dinner for the night. Many times the tour guides will take you to beaches off the beaten path to relax on. After catching your meal, prepare the fish and take it to a restaurant that will cook it up just perfectly. (We ate at La Casita del Marisco which was incredible!)
Day 7
Travel home day Remember to have cash on your way out to pay for the airport tax; you will not be able to get through security until you pay this!
