1 Week in Paris

Paris Travel Itinerary & Guide

1 Week in Paris, France

Hello travelers, I want to show you the things you can do in Paris and its surroundings for a week. I hope this itinerary serves you, especially traveling women who may have some doubts to make a trip alone ……… let’s get lost in Paris! – @michviajera

Day 1:

To get to Paris we took a direct flight from Mexico City to the Charles de Gaulle airport. I highly recommend you take a direct flight to Paris for the Following Reasons.
1. You forget to be worried about any delay the flight might have towards their first stop.
2 If you do not have a visa, you will not have to worry because flights with stopovers generally stop in the United States (with a direct flight they forget that).
3 tend to be a bit more expensive, but personally I did not get jet lag, since the flight we took at night and arrived in the evening in Paris. So if you have a little more budget, I highly recommend the direct flight.

We landed at approximately 3pm and immediately headed towards the metro to move to Paris. There are several options to get to the center of Paris and the one that best suited us was the metro. TRAVELER TIP, to take the subway to paris should follow the signs at the airport that say RER, it is very easy to locate. On your way to the subway you can buy your ticket that costs 10 euros per person. The machines that sell these tickets are in several languages so do not worry if your French is not very good.
TRAVELER TIP: I recommend taking some euros especially low denomination, because we tried to pay by card and that day the machines did not accept any type of card, and the machine that exchanged bills for coins only accepted 5 euros notes which of course we did not bring.

The journey to the center of Paris took us about an hour. We got off at the Cambronne station, which was where our hotel was located. We left the things and we gave ourselves a good bath to begin with our journey. TRAVELER TIP: If you are like me who can not leave home without your hair straightener or dryer you will need an energy converter that you can buy for example in Steren. This is because our electronic devices usually can not withstand the voltage and can be burned, so for no reason in the world they try to connect their iron or dryer or they will get scared.

The 1st day we went to the Eiffel Tower taking the subway, as we arrived on Saturday we waited until Monday to buy the navigo (unlimited travel card in the subway) as we wanted to set it up with 1 week of trips and these would start from of Monday.
When you get to the Eiffel Tower you will meet masses of people, as it is the most visited attraction in France. Both day and night I highly recommend you to visit it as they will take an incredible surprise.
That day we only went to admire it at night because we already had a reservation to go up another day, so we took some pictures and got ready to take our cruise to take a tour of the river Sena.

Cruise on the Seine River

The cruice cost us 10 euros per person with a duration of 1 hour. This tour is given in three languages and there are different agencies with which you can take the cruise, we reserve it through the france tourisme website and all you have to do is print your voucher and change it before boarding the cruise . It is a beautiful tour and at night I feel that it is more enjoyable, because they are taught some of the main monuments and attractions of Paris, such as Notre Dame, the Louvre Museum, the Orsay Museum and others.

Day 2:

The second day we started the tour visiting the “Basilique du Sacré-Coeur” which stole our breath, as we wanted to enjoy the tour we decided to walk to where it was and it turned out to be a very entertaining tour. TRAVELER TIP: will meet people who are going to want to sign leaves, as soon as they see that one of them approaches them respectfully, because if they sign they will demand that they pay for it and as in some cases they ask your passport, they will cheat you to return them.

Near the basilica is montmartre which is a paris area full of art and culture where you can also find the most famous cabaret moulin rouge. And where at the time artists like Picasso and Modigliani lived and worked. TRAVELER TIP; I recommend visiting montmatre from Monday to Saturday, since on Sunday many shops close and if your intention is to go to a bar or cafeteria they will be a bit limited with the options.

At the end of our tour of montmartre we went to the famous moulin rouge, where to be honest we only took the photograph and asked about the shows.

As we still have time we decided to visit the Picasso museum and the modern art museum.

In the museum of modern art we had to see the exhibition of Medusa, a highly recommended jewelry exhibition without fanatics of fashion.

To end our day we had dinner at the restaurant george v located in “champs elysees”

Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris

To enter the basilica they are not charged at all and it is worth the walk to get there, besides they will have an incredible view of Paris. It is not allowed to enter with low-cut clothing.

Montmarte Village

Bars and cafés highly recommended.

Moulin Rouge

Tickets cost from 100 euros with glass of champagne included. The line to take the picture is small and to have a better picture, do it from the ridge.

Musée Picasso

The entry has a value of 12.50 euros and they can buy their tickets on the web to avoid the line, although to be honest it was a short line. You can take all the pictures you want and record video.

National Museum of Modern Art in Paris

If you are under 27 years of age and present your passport you will receive a discount on the purchase of your ticket. The exhibitions are not permanent check on the museum’s website.

Cafe George V

I recommend you try the salmon pasta. The price quality ratio is quite good.

Day 3:

The third day we got up very early as we were heading to Disneyland Paris. We decided to stay in a hotel near the park, in Serris, since it made it more practical to take the metro back to Paris. To get to Disneyland Paris we already had our navigo metro card. Which cost us around 34 euros to have access to the 5 areas, within which is disneyland and versailles, so I recommend it a lot, just do not forget to take an individual photograph as it is a requirement to have your navigo.

To get to Disney it took us about 1 hour and we literally got to Disney. From there the only thing we did was take a taxi to our hotel leave our bags and prepare for fun.

TRAVELER TIP: There are many hotels near Disney (15min) that have free transportation to the two parks, which are usually cheaper than staying at a Disney resort hotel. So I highly recommend them, because they have bus service until 12am.

Walt Disney Studios Park

as soon as they enter the park, go to the fast pasting machines to get theirs, since they end quickly enough and the rows can be more than 1 hour

Day 4:

We travel in Halloween time or Day of the Dead in my country. And as our goal was to spend this date in the park we bought an additional pass for a show called Disney’s Halloween party which cost us 49 euros per person, TRAVELER TIP: if you want to participate in this party buy your tickets in advance as tickets are limited and it is worth mentioning that this ticket is additional to your entrance to the park, that is, if you want to enter the park you will need to buy a general ticket and this ticket for the party at night.

Disneyland Paris

I tell you a little about Disney’s Halloween party, basically the park is open until 1 am and people can go with costumes, there are certain policies for these costumes that can be found on the disneyland paris page. The games are open and if you could not get into a game in the day or feel like doing it again you can. There is an area decorated for the occasion, as well as shows with the villains and a special parade. This is the only time of the year when you can see the villains parade, so take advantage of it.

Day 5:

After two incredible days at Disney we headed back to Paris for our next adventures, and this day that would be our 5 day we started with the magnificent Louvre museum. From this museum, I have several tips that will make your journey easier.

TRAVELER TIP: The first thing you have to do is buy your tickets online and if you have already selected the day you want to enter, I recommend buying the tickets by selecting day and time, this will save time and the huge line to enter.

I did not know that when you bought your ticket you could select because part of the museum to enter, since in addition to the pyramid you have other tickets that are less crowded. Once they have this and selected where to enter, they can review what actions they want to see.

The museum has 14km so it is impossible to see everything in detail in a single day, so before going look for what works you want to see and identify which floor they are on.

TRAVELER TIP this will sound too much, but if you still want to save a few more minutes in search of the works read a little about them and identify in what year were created, since the map of the museum is too summarized and divided for years. I promise you with this you will go quietly, otherwise if you are going to use the museum application and have the option of using your mobile data, do it, so the museum’s wifi is a bad and the connection is lost at all times (for the large number of visitors) and if you are going to see only mona lisa do not worry that there are signs everywhere, just follow them and where they see the cluster of people there will be.

Louvre Museum

We dedicate a little more than half a day to visit the museum. This with the intention of relaxing and appreciating the great works that are there. I leave my musts of the museum and the floors where they are. #thanksmichviajera.

Day 6:

On our 6th day we finally had to go to the top of the wonderful Eiffel Tower and explore its surroundings.

TRAVELER TIP: to go up to the Eiffel Tower without queues (where more queues I’ve seen) buy your tickets in advance online, just as in the Louvre museum select your day and time and do not forget to arrive with 20 minutes in advance so that can enter without delay.

Almost to close our day we headed to one of my favorite museums. The Orsay Museum. I cannot even tell you how beautiful this museum is and how easy it is to travel.

Eiffel Tower

TRAVELER TIP: when they go up the elevator take good care of their things because here was the only place where I learned the famous pickpockets stole people, so if they bring a backpack they take care of it a lot. For me one of the most beautiful views of Paris is from the Eiffel Tower, so I highly recommend that you visit it and that you really go up. It is a must in your trip.

Coming down from the Eiffel Tower we took a tour of the gardens of Trocadero and of course we had to eat a nutella crepe, they are quite large, so with enough for two people. That if eating a crepe in this area will cost around 15 euros.

TRAVELER TIP: The best pictures of the tower are going to get from the gardens, and if you do not believe me, I leave some to corroborate yourselves.

Musée d'Orsay

I would recommend this museum as first in your trip to Paris, especially people who find the museums boring and tedious, I swear to you and I promise that the orsay museum is your museum. Among his collection are pieces, by Rodin, Monet and van Gogh. If you are followers of these artists, you will feel in paradise, since the collection of works is impressive. Traveler tip, I recommend buying the pass of the museum of orsay and rodin for 19.80 euros, with this pass will have access to the two museums for a fair price.

The Galeries Lafayette

To end this day we went shopping at Galeries Lafayette. Its Christmas decoration is one of the most beautiful, and there are some options for eating. Our dinner was in a very good Japanese restaurant.

Day 7:

It was our penultimate day so we had many activities to do. We startet our day visiting the holy chapel and the cociergeri. I must say that I was quite impressed by the holy chapel not only because of its stained glass windows but also because of its history, because in this chapel was found the crown of thorns of Jesus for a time, and the arrow. Fascinating place and guess here you can also find the famous gargoyles on its outside.

Our next stop was at the long-awaited Cathedral of Notre Dame. A true jewel We had the fortune of listening to the chorus of children singing hallelujah and that moment of truth marked my life. Of those memories that you will never forget.

We took the subway and went to the Luxembourg garden, a beautiful French garden with its magnificent gardens, that day we had a wonderful sun and we could enjoy and relax a bit watching the children play with their sailboats in control.

One of my biggest dreams was to attend the opera garnier, and was my first time in the beautiful place.
The garnier palace is majestic, I have never seen anything like this in my life, you feel like a princess. I really could not believe I was there. If I were a millionaire, I would not hesitate to build an equally beautiful palace in Mexico.

Our last museum was the Rodin Museum, which was the house where Rodin himself lived. This museum is a jewel since outside it is a garden with a lake where Rodin’s most famous sculptures.

To finish this trip we return by subway to the airport, traveler tip girls if they travel with a lot of luggage I do not recommend going by subway to the airport since the metro in Paris has enough stairs and it will be difficult to move, especially if it is full.

I hope these tips are useful and that this itinerary works for them. Do not forget to follow me as a @michviajera, I will be sharing more tips for your trips.

Sainte-Chapelle

The price per person is 10 euros and you can take pictures.

Notre Dame

To go to the top of the cathedral and meet the famous gargoyles you need to buy a ticket that costs 8 euros. We decided not to go up since we had a heavy itinerary for that day, and the line was quite long

Luxembourg Park

This garden has no cost and is an excellent option to relax and even to make a pic Nick. So do not doubt it, you will love it.

National Opera of Paris: Palais Garnier

The cost to enter is 11 euros and you can buy your tickets online. It is a lovely journey, one of my favorite places.

Arc de Triomphe

TRAVELER TIP: we did not buy the paris museum and the paris pass because by doing the accounts it was cheaper for us to buy tickets to the attractions we wanted to see.

Day 8:

To end our trip in Paris we closed with gold leaf and we went to know Versailles, that day was too windy, but nothing stopped us to walk its gardens and visit the palace. With your navigo you can travel to Versailles. We were tired and decided to go on a guided bus, which came with tickets included.

Palace of Versailles

I highly recommend this visit because if some French palaces want to know it has to be versailles. The gardens are beautiful and if you are very tired, they can rent a golf cart to take the tour.
